Sadly, Pear OS has been discontinued in early 2014, as it was acquired by an unknown company. I managed to find an OSX El Capitan.dmg file, but that doesnt seem to work with my other mac. Im looking for an OS X El capitan.app download but I cant seem to find it anywhere.

I believe that El Capitan is the last supported software for this hardware. I just installed gedit on Mac OS X 10.13.3 (High Sierra) with Homebrew: brew install gedit The installation was ok but launching it with Terminal I get the error ' (gedit:25359): GLib-GIO-ERROR : 19:20:21. The boot menu provides the usual entries that allow you to boot the live environment, install the entire system, boot the currently installed operating system, and start the Live CD in safe graphics mode. Hi all fellow mac users I need to make a bootable USB drive installer for a 2009 MBP. El Capitan will show up as a software update.

It is distributed as two Live DVD ISO images, one for 64-bit architectures and another one for 32-bit architectures. Then head on over to the Mac App Store and click on Updates. Distributed as 32-bit and 64-bit Live DVDs
